Now *that* was providence

I've been looking at the overgrown vegetation around our mailbox and wanting to change it up.  It had a blue spirea bush, overgrown hen&chicks, one lone columbine, a tree sprout that I couldn't kill/uproot, and tons of nude colored irises that I just didn't enjoy.

Yesterday the electric company had to dig it all out because there was a short in the line directly underneath the eyesore.  They tore out EVERYTHING and I wasn't the least bit sad.  It saved me a ton of work.  (They did replace the mailbox, which is good.)

eeeeee!  Pretty mailbox landscaping is in the future.

  • I'm thinking columbine flowers around the base of the mailbox pole, and transplanting some of the snapdragons from the backyard to the front.  Then around the edge planting pansies.

So do you pray to God or to the electric company for that kind of landscaping?

Both.  :oD  Or pray for really crappy former owners to your house.  Apparently what caused the short was that there was an old mailbox under our mailbox pole that they used to stabilize it.  The old mailbox was sitting right on top of the electric wire.  I'm just glad our post is wood, so it couldn't conduct electricity.
