from the 1st trimester board! I'm hoping to get some input from moms who had elevated blood pressure during pregnancy. Did anyone have issues mid-way that resolved themselves without treatment? If anyone had preeclampsia, I'd be curious about your outcome also.
I was told today that my blood pressure is elevated, although I have no protein in my urine, swelling or headaches at this point. I've never had an issue with this during my other pregnancies, so it's a little difficult when the doctor says not to worry. ![]()
Re: Sneaking over... (Blood Pressure)
Yes - Watch your sodium intake and stress-levels.
I had elevated blood pressure throughout and they just monitored it and then had me come in for weekly NST's for the last month but all was well and I was induced at 40 weeks, 5 days. (Which ended in a C).
My baby was sitting on my nerve... so when I stood up or laid flat on my back my bp would be really elevated... so i did ALOT of laying on my left side... I mean ALOT.. it did help tho.. until around 36 weeks and I had to go on bedrest because of protein in my urine and loads of swelling.. but I didnt have pre-e since my bp wasnt elevated ALL the time!!
My bp was first elevated at an appointment around 22 weeks. My doc had me take a baby aspirin every day. At every appointment after that it was elevated until around 32 weeks when it really got high. I was checking my own bp and it was 170/100 at my office and when I called the dr. they had me come straight over and it was 180/110. They sent me straight to the hospital for monitoring.
My bp stayed elevated and I began having higher levels of protein in my urine. My dr. put me on two types of bp medicine and kept upping the dosages. He finally dx. me with pre-eclampsia at 36 weeks and I had DD the next day by c-section. I was kept in the hospital for a week because it wouldn't go down.
I didn't realize how serious high bp was until a few days after I had her the nurse was checking my bp and freaked out. It was so high she thought I was going to have a stroke on her. I never once had the headaches or visual disturbances that most pre-e girls have.
My bp is finally down, I am still on labetlol and hoping my family dr. will wean me off of it soon.

Oh and in my case... changing my diet and being stress free and on bedrest did not work for me.
