Not interested in food @ 7 months?

Not Jackson, my niece.  So Jackson was a great solid food eater right off the bat. My niece, on the other hand is not interested what-so-ever.  My SIL has tried different foods (vegetables, fruit & even puffs) and she wants nothing to do with it.

Is this normal?  Should she just wait? Anyway to get her interested? Thoughts? Suggestions? Special snowflake?

Re: Not interested in food @ 7 months?

  • Cam did that at 7mo but only with purees... she wanted nothing to do with them.. when i took "real" food and chopped it up into tiny pieces or ran it through the food mill she would eat it! She wanted the texture i guess...

  • My DD was not interest in solids until 9 months old. She was BFed and it was never a problem. My DS was the same until 15 months old. Neither one is a picky eater in any way and both are healthy and very smart so nutrition was never a worry.

  • Ditto to pp - totally fine. Some babies don't love it right off the bat. That's also still a young digestive system, so I wouldn't worry. Emmeline couldn't have bananas or sweet potatoes before she was a year because it bound her up. Now she eats them like a champ - so I'd just be patient and let her lead the way. Try new stuff here and there (Emmeline loved texture of steel cut oatmeal), but with a relaxed state of mind - if she likes it, great..if not, no big deal.

  • Totally fine.  Like someone suggested, she might juts try with some real foods instead of pureed baby foods.   Black beans are easy to pick up and smushy to eat.
