I was visiting with my friend who recently had her LO. She was telling me about her delivery and her hospital experience. She told me that she purchased a See's Candy basket for the nurses in L&D to give them while she was admitted. I know this isn't required, but I was wondering if anyone else is planning on bring treats for the nurses as a "Thank You"?
Re: Gift For Nurses While In L&D????
I have a c-section scheduled for 7 am and I have to be there at 5:30, I was planning on stopping at DD to get bagels for them...
The only thing is when I called the hospital to ask about how many nurses are on duty they wouldn't tell me. I have no clue if one dozen is enough.
I would hate for me not to buy enough. I know its a big hospital.
I know them since I work in the lab at the hospital I'm delivering at. Was thinking of getting them doughnuts or cookies or something.
Some people (esp at hospitals) prefer individually wrapped things, though, so keep that in mind, too.

I'll be doing this, just not sure what I'll be bringing. It will depend on what time of day it is. If it's during the morning, it'll probably be 2 dozen doughnuts/bagels or something. If it's the afternoon or night, probably 2-3 pizza's. Our hospital is by the university, so there are a few places that stay open later.
It won't be individually wrapped or anything but I figure if it comes in a box that they recognize, they'll probably eat it.
my bradley instructor mentioned that this would be a nice gesture after the birth. who doesnt like snacks?!?!?
Ditto this for me too! One nurse I work with always says the quickest way to a nurses heart is through her stomach. We never expect anything from our patients, but we are very appreciative when snacks come our way because it happens pretty frequently that we might not get a lunch at a normal time!
We are going to take a basket of goodies in for the nurses and techs. Probably will put 100 calorie packs, microwave popcorn, Little Debbies and packets of those powdered thingees you add to bottled water.
My dad is a nurse and loves it when people bring in goodies for sharing.
