Being a BM- wwyd

So one of my dearest friends in getting married in Jan & both my Husband and I will be in the wedding. Do you think I should just give her a heads up that I may be KU by then and that could effect "dresses". We hadn't told anyone that we are TTC.  She's not a crazy bride & it shouldn't matter... but I've just read horror stories of people going ape-shi!t about PG Bridesmaids.

Thoughts....

Re: Being a BM- wwyd

  • One of my BM was 5 months pregnant at our wedding and had ordered her dress just before finding out she was pregnant...she didn't tell me or anyone else that they were trying. The seamstress was able to let it out enough and she brought a back up dress in the same color just in case she needed to change. So I guess I'm saying that I would hope she would be accomodating without you tell her. You know your friend and if you don't think she's the type to go crazy, then I would tell only if you want to tell. We didn't tell too many people we were TTC because we didn't want the constant questions about "are you pregnant yet?" Your choice to tell but I would only do it if you WANT to not because you feel you HAVE to for her wedding.

  • jan 2011? Because I think you would barely be pregnant right? So I dont think you would need alot of dress alterations.

OMG IM AN IDIOT. I CANT CALCULATE CRAP.

  • Anyways, act like I didn't mention the post above. I agree with Cali you know your friend more than any of us do. If I was a bride I wouldn't care but some go crazy.

  • That's sorta what I'm thinking... I dont think she'd care. And there's not point in bringing it up until it's an issue.

  • I wouldn't say anything unless you are pregnant when it comes time to order the dress!

  • I had 2 girls PG in my wedding.  I think one was 4 months and one was 5 months.  I knew they were before PG before I ordered the dresses, and I tried to accommodate a dress that would work with their sito (I picked a BM dress that had ruching all in the middle, so it could fluctuate with a growing belly!).  I didn't care whatsoever.  Them being PG had no affect on me.  If anything, I felt bad for them that they had to stand in heels that long in ta Catholic wedding!  lol.  I don't understand why brides get bent out of shape with a PG BM.  How are they any different than the other BMs? And typically you can get either get a maternity dress option, or buy a huge size and get it altered to fit, so the dress options are that limited.

(I will say that if you know that you are PG when you order the dresses, buy at least 2 sizes bigger than what you fit into at the time.  One of my PG BMs freaked out at the last minute b/c she didn't think she would fit into her dress, and so I ordered a new one the next size up - express delivery - and now I have an extra BM dress in my closet that was never worn.  :-/  You can almost always get a larger dress altered to fit you smaller, but you can only come up with so much extra fabric to let out in the end!)

  • I wouldn't say anything until you get a positive test & you and your DH are comfortable sharing.
