Mac & cheese and LOs

Anyone give this? I have zero time to make any and I don't want them to turn into the only eat mac & cheese and chicken nuggets kids so I resisted.

But it's DH's fave food so I may try a little bit and add broccoli to it. Is Annie's good for LOs? Any other suggestions?

Re: Mac & cheese and LOs

  • Maybe buy a cup of Easy Mac in a cup (just add water and microwave for 3:30) just to see if they would like it.  I would hate for you to work hard on something they won't like.  DS doesn't like it, or pasta of any kind.

  • I know you like to do homemade, but I just bought a Gerber jar of it to try. DS is also pretty resistent to textures, and finger food so I'm not expecting it to be a hit.
  • I haven't given any to DD yet - agree with the mac and cheese, chicken nugget, thing. Annie's is what we'll do though -- it's organic, yummy, and no added butter (you can even make it with yogurt instead of milk) - adding broccoli is a good idea, maybe even some little pieces of chicken?

  • So far, my DS doesn't care for the texture of pasta.  I thought about making "orzo & cheese" so that the pasta pieces would be smaller, but I haven't had time to try it yet.
  • So far they love bowtie pasta. I think I'll try the Annie's. If they don't eat it, DH will.

     Thanks.

  • I've given DS the Velveta cups. He loved the one with brocolli in it! I got the cups because they are smaller portions and I don't waste any - it's enoug to serve him twice.
  • If they're into more textures, they have mac and cheese in the Gerber graduates meals.  I just picked some up last week for the boys to try.  I can't wait to give it to them!
  • I gave Monk some from Cracker Barrel. He was like eh to it.
  • It is SO easy to make mac n cheese for babies: cook some pastina.  Then in a microwave dish, melt a little butter, some cheese, and some milk (about 20 seconds in the microwave) and mix into the pastina.  I also stir in some tomato puree... easy, healthy, and yummy!

  • Hannah LOVES mac & cheese, but so far there isn't many foods she's denied.  She seems to eat pretty well anything!

  • Sam loves pasta with cheese melted on it... holds the macaroni together. I usually use marble cheese and put peas & carrots & corn niblets with it. Haven't tried nuggets yet tho.

  • we've given it and L likes it I added peas. I make a yummy homemade one with chicken as well but haven't had the time. I will try to make it myself next time tho I try to limit the amount of processed stuff to when we are out and its unavoidable.

I'm scared to. I'm planning on making my own when the time comes.
