3rd Trimester

My Birth Story with PIPS. :) Very long.

Easter Sunday I started feeling a little crampy. I was 6 days overdue, but I figured it was nothing. All throughout the day the "cramps" started getting worse and worse. At 7pm I looked at Adam and said... "We might be having a baby today." He said, "What is the percent that we will be in the hospital tonight?" "Maybe 70..." Lol.

The cramps were definitely contractions, and at 9pm we headed to the hospital because I was in "so much pain". Hahaha. When we got there, the nurse asked me on a scale of 1 - 10 how bad it was. I said, oh probably an 8. She looked at me and said go home. There was no way in the whole world I was going home with pain "that bad" lol. She was very sweet and told me that she would admit me only if I would walk the hallways for an hour. Deal.

I walked around for a few hours, and I dialated to 2 1/2 cm at 10 pm Easter night. They told me they would come in and check me at 7!!! am to see how much progress I had made, and to try and get some rest. Needless to say I didn't sleep at all. My contractions picked up intensity and it turned into back labor... which sucked so badly. They had Adam make a fist and push into my back as hard as he could, which honestly made the contractions go away. At 7 am, I was 3 cm. This was going to take a while...

At 9 am I thought I was going to die lol. The OB checked me and I was 4 cm. All in about 10 seconds he broke my water and gave me some Stadol to relax through the contractions. I wanted to wait on the epidural as long as I could. The Stadol lasted about an hour, and it took the edge off of the pain. After that, I requested the epidural. It didn't hurt going in, the local didn't hurt, it was just fantastic. I managed to sleep a little bit.

At 11am I was 6 cm. The OB asked me if I wanted some Pitocin to speed up my labor a little, completely up to me. Absolutely. I wanted to meet my little man. 2:45 pm I was 8 cm. 2:55 I was 9 cm. I NEEDED to get him out. With the epidural, the pressure was so strong that I needed to push. The OB said if I think I can push, I'm probably right. 3:00 pm I started pushing. *TMI* He stuck his hand inside while he was crowning and tried to help him come out. This was the most painful part, honestly. They used some sort of oil, but it didn't work so well. He gave me an episiotomy with 8 stitches, and my son was born at 3:21. 21 minutes of pushing, I was proud.

Connor Daniel was born at 7lbs 13 1/4 oz, 21 1/4 inches long. He has HUGE hands and feet, and his daddy's nose. I have never in my life been so more in love with someone. I have never felt the immense connection of when my son looks into my eyes when I talk to him. He knows his mom. He knows me. He's been great so far, and I love him more than I can explain.

Now the fun part! :)

Those are just his little IV's because his cord was around his neck pretty tightly, he's okay now though. :)

Good luck and H&H!!!! :)
