I am, by no means, the "perfect" mother and I TRY (doesn't mean I don't) not to judge others. A few days ago I witnessed something truly scary and I was really shaken up for a long time.
My DH, DD and I were at Target in Memorial City Mall. We were all walking from the car to the front door on the sidewalk that runs in front of the store. The lane of traffic that runs right in front of the door stays really busy with lots of cars going by pretty fast.
DH is carrying DD and I am walking beside them. A lady with her child (maybe about 2 or 3 years old ) in a shopping cart are coming out of the store down the same sidewalk. It is crazy windy outside. The lady seems to be busy looking at her receipt and it flies out of her hand. She runs away to chase it down leaving her child in the shopping cart unattended. The wind starts moving the shopping cart down the sidewalk OFF the curb, heading INTO the traffc. The shopping cart is about 10-15 feet from me and I start freaking out inside. I don't scream but I run as fast as I can to get to the baby and cart. Luckily I stopped it. The front two wheels went of the curb and hit the road but I got to it just in time. I pulled the cart back up on the curb and that is when the lady notices and comes over to me. It all was so blurry, I don't even remember if it was a little boy or a little girl in the cart.
I am sure the woman felt horrible but it is just a reminder that it only takes a second.
