diarrhea when teething?

Does your DC have diarrhea when they are teething?  If so how bad is it and how long does it last?  Also does it normally make their bottom raw?

Yes! Poor babies. Diarrhea and teething seem to go together for us.

How ARE you and those boys?!

  • Yes! We had this for 2 weeks about a week ago (if that makes sense)...it was awful. We tried 4 different pastes, baking soda in the bath water, let him crawl around naked, and we even woke him up at night to change his diaper. ALmost every diaper had freakin diarrhea in it! But its over...for now!

  • Ok good to know.  Poor G is due up for several teeth so I'm hoping that's what is going on.

Hey lady :)  We are doing great.  They are keeping me BUSY these days though.  How are you and your cuties?

  • Honestly I'm feeling more like 3 yo is rough compared to 18 mo.  N has been CRAZY lately.  G on the other hand is so low key and such a sweet baby.  Well until the last few days, but that is b/c his poor butt is so raw :(

  • I evaluated a pediatric dentists child and asked him this exact question. He said that teething only produces sickness signs such as low grade temp, runny nose and diarrhea when the child's gums are not clean. He said that when the tooth starts to break through a gum with bacteria on it the bacteria goes into the blood stream and causes the viral like sickness. SO, he recommended to wash the gums with a washrag 2 times a day especially when teething and keeping the gums clean. He said teething should not cause any viral symptoms. GL and I hope this helps!
