When is the flu season "done" so to speak? I am just curious to see how many people got or didn't get the shot.
I personally did not because my Dr advised against it. I got really really sick last year when I got the flu shot and I was already having bad morning sickness!

Re: H1N1
This was basically my situation, but my Dr. really pushed getting the shot so I did some more research and ended up getting the shot. My DH got it as well. All I know is that it made me sick (no I didn't have an allergic reaction to it, I was not that sick, at least that's what my dr. said) but I was uncomfortable and sick for about 2 days.

I got both the flu shot and the H1N1 shot at the same appointment. I had no reaction to either. My SO actually had H1N1 earlier this year.
I was also told it will be highly recommended that he and I get the flu shot again after the baby is born since she will be born during flu season and unable to be inoculated.
I've never had a flu shot, and didn't intend to start now.
With H1N1 it's still new enough that it hasn't withstood the test of time... My DH works at the hospital, and most of the people working there absolutely refuse to get it. Also my midwife never even brought it up.

I have never had the flu but I got the shot anyways just to be safe. DH who had also never had the flu did not get the shot, even though I told him he should just as an extra precaution. DH got H1N1 and was really sick for two weeks, I was fine, and I got to say I told you so! (While I did really say I told you so, I didn't rub it in too bad, he was really sick!)
And on another note, this all happened a few weeks ago, well after the big outbreak, we thought we had made it through the flu season and we were wrong!

I had planned on getting the H1N1 shot, but caught H1N1 before I had the chance. Despite being a healthy, young runner (did a half-marathon in May!), it attacked my lungs viciously. I had Tamiflu, but that didn't stop me from developing strep pneumonia, and then a pleural effusion, which in a nutshell, was a build-up of fluid in my chest cavity that collapsed my left lung.
I was admitted to hospital, had chest tubes put in for drainage, and eventually had to have a thoracotmy (chest surgery) to get all the infected fluid out. I was in hospital for 25 days and was off work for another 2 months trying to recover my muscle mass. But I'm all better now, and my ribs only hurt when I yawn.
I really wish I'd gotten my antibodies the "easy" way, like my husband, who was able to get the shot early due to his asthma.
I got the regular flu shot in early October, then I got pregnant later that month, then I got the H1N1 in early November.
I wouldn't have gotten them if I didn't work in a pharmacy around so many sick people... and since I work in the pharm, I got them for free.

I got a flu shot in October and the H1N1 a couple months ago. My regular OB was pro flu and H1N1 so I had planned to get them. I'm now at a group practice and they also encourage both.
I work with a population that's high risk so my office offers them doesn't charge for flu shots and the H1N1 was also free.

I got the shot when I found out I was pregnant.
I just attended the funeral of a student of my who contracted the disease the day before Halloween, was medi-vaced and was on life support 2 days later. If you didn't get the shot and you didn't get the illness, you are very lucky. It is a DEADLY disease. My student was a 13 year old athlete who was in good health. The procedures they did on him (ending with the attempt at a double lung transplant which would've given him another 3 to 5 years of life) were the first ever attempted in the country and in some cases the world.
The shot had been tested as much as any other season flu shot. It is misinformation to say that it wasn't.
DH, DS, and myself all got it in October. We have to get all those vaccines due to DS's health issues...but if he were a "healthy" child, we more than likely wouldn't have gotten it!
Thanks, and I thank God everyday that even though I was TTC before that, that He made me wait until I was healthy & safe.
