So I just got back from an appt with Dr. Welbourne at Centennial for an U/S on my ovaries. And I was wondering do you ladies who use other OBGYN's have to make extra appts for u/s because they do not keep the machines in the office and have to have a tech come in?
When I lived in OK, my Dr had the machine in a room all set up so that if he needed to see something we could just go in there real quick and he would do the u/s and read the results right then. Is this not the norm? Was I spoiled?
Either way, I don't plan on keeping this dr. I had to wait for over 50 minutes past my appt time for a tech, and never saw the dr, and had to remind them of my bloodwork results from 2 weeks ago they never got back to me on. Do any of you see the Drs from Frisco OBGYN (Petrovski, etc)? Any complaints about them?
Re: McK/Frisco/Allen: OBGYN Questions, Ultrasounds?
i live in mck and go to a dr in plano, but they have an in office tech. so if i needed an u/s then i do it right then and there. i would never have to wait.
and i love them bc they have a big flat screen in front of you - so you aren't sharing the same screen as the u/s tech, kwim?
Sorry you had a bad experience. Dr Welbourne is my OB and I LOVE HER! I would wait an hour just to have her as my doctor. She delivered DD.
They do have more than one machine to do ultrasounds but she likely had you see the sonographer who is specifically trained to do ultrasounds. If it's just a quick baby check during pregnancy the the Dr will do the ultrasound, but if it's something they want to make sure an expert sees, they will schedule you with the expert.
There are some offices who don't even have machines for u/s at their offices and they will send you to a different office or a hospital for ultrasounds, but Centenial OB is not one of them. Hope you have better luck with someone else, or give Dr Welbourne another chance.
I live in Frisco, but drive to Plano for my OBGYN who I ADORE. His name is Dr. Ivan Rovner. They have a tech there as well as the machine. Besides the amazing staff and my Dr., I've never waited more than 5 minutes for an appointment. First Dr's office I've ever been to where I "NEVER" wait. They are always on time. The one time I waited 5 mins. was because I was late.
Anyway, they are located right next to Medical Center of Plano on 15th St. He's also affiliated with Baylor Frisco.
This -- I go to Dr. Bailey and my sis sees Dr. Welborne (but its the same office) I was there yesterday and I only waited like 15 mins before my appt. but I know on Tuesdays when they do the ultrasounds with the tech was the only time i had to wait a while and that is because that is the only day that the tech is there and she is the only one who does them, so they book that day full. And the blood work they really only tell you if its bad news. they go by the saying "no news is good news" unless of course you ask.
See, they told me no news is good news, but I had them check anyways and turns out they forgot to call me or something because the whole reason they checked my blood was for my thyroid and it is super low (which explains my extreme hair loss). And then the nurse also asked if I had been check for a UTI, I told them yes and she asked what medicine they Rx'd for me. I was like umm none, you never told me if I had one or not.
And at my first appt, I waited over 30 minutes to be called back, and that was on a Wednesday. I liked Dr. Welbourne, just not the office procedures.
Punk, which part of Plano is your Dr. located and does he/she use Baylor Frisco?

his office is in the buildings behind plano presby, but he does use baylor frisco
i had dd2 at baylor frisco!
eta: and let me say - i adore him. as does everyone i know who goes to him. he's very "don't stress. its okay" and i like that. i know a lot of my friends had dr's that would make them worry MORE about things.
I see Dr. Goldstein at Baylor Frisco and they have an ultrasound in the office. I never really had to wait more than 10 minutes but now that I guess this was a little different because I had to get ultrasounds every 2-3 days. You may want to check out his web site. www.fertilitydallas.com
Coming out of lurking...
My doctor is Dr. Shimer at Craig Ranch OB/GYN in McKinney. They have sonogram machines right there in the room. On a few occasions when I've had some cramping, he's given me a sono during my routine visits. I've been very happy with him, and the other doctors at his practice.
I'm really late on this, but I see Dr McIntire at Frisco Ob/Gyn. I absolutely love her. I rarely had to wait more than a few minutes to be seen and she takes as much or as little time that you want/need at each appt. They are quick to call back with lab results, etc.
As far as sonograms, if it was something quick, Dr McIntire would do it. But for my anatomy scan and bpp, the sonographer did them. I always had that done and then my appt with her. I typically spent about an hour there because of this.
They also do most of their own blood draws there. The only draw I had to go to a lab for was when I was tested for clotting disorders.
