NBR: any ideas for a mini-vacation?

a few friends and i are looking to get away somewhere within driving distance of chapel hill (3-4 hours, maybe?) any wonderful ideas?? we're very very open to whatever Smile TIA!

    Rent a house on Oak Island. Easy drive, quieter than many other beaches and warmer water. Bring wine....lots of wine.

    we go to myrtle beach, bout a 4 hr drive from greenville, not sure bout where your from or possibly virginia beach is a quiet place

    I think Richmond is a really cool town- lots of good restaurants and fun little shops, and it's pretty close. You could go to Kings Dominion one day too.

    thanks, ladies. i think we're going to try for asheville/black mountain. it's one of my favorite places and i found some cute cabins to rent.

    i guess i should've mentioned that i'm going with 1 (maybe 2) pregnant ladies, and one can't be in the sun at all because she's got cutaneous lupus, so the beach/amusement parks are out. sad! <sigh> we're getting old!!
