I think people use hot glue to attach the ribbon. I also wondered about this myself, I don't think hot glue would be strong enough. Maybe using a staple gun? I am interested also!
i used these metal thingys in my husbands tool kit. like a circle with a screw coming out of the middle of it to put into the wood. then you thread the ribbon through the hole.
I used a staple gun - but then you have to make sure that the staples aren't scratching your wall. i put a piece of fabric over the back of my letters over the staples. good luck!
