Have you tasted your own breastmilk?

My boobs have been leaking colostrum lately and I don't know why but I just find it incredibly cool.  And I'm also slightly disturbed by the fact that I'm curious what colostrum and/or breastmilk tastes like.  I know colostrum isn't the same as breastmilk, and I know it probably tastes disgusting, but every time I leak, I have this little urge to taste it.  What the heck is wrong with me?!?  I'm a day shy of a flame-free confession, so feel free to flame away. Smile

    I never did. I nursed ds for 18 months and never wanted to try it.

    When my milk came in with my son, I tasted a bit...it's very sweet. It's normal to want to know about what your child is eating.

    As I was writing my post, I was having flashbacks to "Look Who's Talking" when John Travolta adds breastmilk to his coffee, thinking it was milk.

    I haven't started leaking yet, but I don't want to try it-DH wants to though!

    I tasted a few drops of my breast milk when I nursed DS.  It tastes like really sweet milk.

    nothing is wrong with you, it's not disgusting.  I was curious and tried it.  The colostrum, I don't have milk yet.  If it was disgusting, your baby wouldn't like it.  It doesn't really taste like anything.  But I don't leak a ton either.

    Lol!  This post made me laugh so hard!  :)  According to our lactation specialist colostrum is very sweet tasting to the baby- full of antibodies, etc that help the baby build a healthy immune system.  Not sure what it would taste like to us though....

    I hadn't really thought about it, DH has though, he is sort of freaked out about it (but is very supportive of breastfeeding)...he has NO interest in tasting it!  :o)

    My DH always jokes if we run out of milk for coffee there is always breastmilk.

    You need to watch a British TV series called Little Britain.  It's pretty raunchy but hilarious!  There is a sketch in one of the seasons where a grown man still breastfeeds.  It's hilarious. He calls is "bitty".  "more bitty please".  

    Due to this show, my DH wants to taste the breast milk.  lol.

    i haven't thought about trying the colostrum, but when my mom was breastfeeding my brother, i tasted it and remember it being like sugar water.it's not weird for you to wonder.

    There's a whole fetish surrounding acting like a baby, including nursing and wearing diapers.  These men pay big bucks for women to breastfeed them - it's crazy!

    Very interesting that you posted this today haha....DH has been talking about tasting it for months now and how cool it will be. and because of his now found love for my "new" boobies lol ...he was messing with them last night and apparently got a little taste. HAH! He used the word bitter. but he said it wasn't bad lol. just not as sweet as he expected....o boys...

    I've been BFing for 20 months.  I have tasted my milk and so has DH (in fact it's not really that uncommon for lactating to be a total turn on for some men).  I don't think it is weird at all, but I never said I was the most normal person out there either.

    Oh, and my milk has always tasted like very sweet milk, not unpleasant at all.

    I've never tried colostrum but I tasted my EBM anytime I had even a slight concern that it may be spoiled. Since I pumped when I went back to work, I would sometimes take a bag out of the freezer or fridge and smell and/or taste to make sure it was still good.

    Hahaha...I tasted my BM when I nursed my other kids. I was curious to see what they were tasting.  It's like a sweet watery taste.  I just got like a little drop of it, not a bottle or anything. Haha. Not wierd to me. Taste it if you want....its not like your tasting some NON-food thing like pee or something.
