I havent asked but I'm assuming my dr doesnt do them unless theres a problem. I have all of my appointments scheduled for the rest of the pregnancy and none of them are for an u/s.
i think that is pretty much the norm. my doctor is doing one at 38 or 39 weeks in his office to estimate his size & make sure he is head down but nothing extensive.

The women's clinic I go to does one at every appointment. They do a big one at 20 weeks to check all the organs and do a 4d ultrasound, this is done by an ultrasound tech who comes from the hospital. The doctor does one at every appointment. At the first appointment they give you a disc that you bring to all your appointments and they record them all for you. The way their billing is set up I only get charged for the first U/S and the 20week U/S the rest are all lumped together and billed at the end.
This is what I hear from the doctors as well. I last saw LO at 23 weeks. They said that the insurance doesn't pay for another one and that they would only do one if they thought that I was measuring big.

Re: No 3rd Tri Ultrasound
I personally didn't expect an u/s in the third trimester. I was suprised when he told me I was going to have one.
My doc said I might even have one more that way he knows the position of the baby before he does my (medically necessary) c-section.
