Leaving Walmart yesterday Gage almost fell off the shopping car. He was in his carseat on the cart like I see everyone else do. We hit a bump and he went flying. Thankfully DH is fast and caught it before he hit the ground.
I almost hard a heart attack. I was talking to my co-workers and apparently it isnt safe to put the carseat up there. I never knew that, so I thought I'd share.
Re: PSA on carseats in the shopping cart
First of all, so glad that your DS is safe and sound! I have heard that this wasn't safe...our carseat wasn't even made with the openings to put in on a shopping cart. At first I thought, what the heck, but then the more I researched it the more I was glad it didn't!!
Yeah, freaked the eff out. I will probably use the Snuggli from now on.
Hank's carseat goes in the big part of the basket too. The Britax we bought doesn't even have the slats that allow it to sit in the shopping cart like everyone does... Kinda glad it doesn't because I had no idea it was so unstable.
Same here. Glad your LO is safe.
I could be wrong but I believe in my car seat manual it tells you not to do that, yet I see it done everywhere. It makes my husband nervous so he takes the stroller with us even in the grocery store and the few times we have done it he somehow used the buckle to hold the car seat there.
Maybe it's just me...but isn't it common sense to not do that unless the carseat firmly locks into place? I mean, it has disaster written all over it.
This for me too.
This is what I do. It makes me so scared when I see carseats in the child seat of carts.
What is a snuggli?
