Hi all,
My RE suggested incorporating more whole milk products into my diet to help with lack of ovulation (partly because she is co-author of a book on fertility nutrition), among fertility treatments, of course. I'm a big dairy person, and I've grown up only using skim milk and fat free yogurts, low-fat cheeses, etc. so I am finding this transition kind of hard, mainly due to the additional fat/calories its putting into my diet.
What's everyone take on this? Just curious if anyone else made the switch??

Re: Whole Milk products to boost fertility?
I have read several books and hired a nutritionist and they all say that this is the ONE proven fertility/food connection. Google gives a surpising number of good hits on this topic (no snark intended when linking to Google
).
I'm guessing we are about the same age, I grew up with the "no fat" fad diet craze and didn't know until about 5 years ago how important dietary fat is. I grew up associating ALL fat as unhealthy. (I wonder how screwed up kids now will be about carbs when they grow up.)
I have read that whole milk is better for fertility. I really have to loose about 15lbs so I try not to add any unnecessary calories and saturated fats. I myself am a skim milk drinker and have tried to use whole milk in my coffee and that?s about it. Honestly that's even hard. I don?t think changing to whole milk solely will make a huge impact but it definitely couldn?t hurt. There are a lot of herbs and other avenues you can take as well if you can?t switch to whole milk, I see an acupuncturist so she has recommended a whole cocktail of Chinese herbs, and you might want to think about that too! GL hun!

Thanks for the feedback! I've definitely been doing some research online and am reading a book about it, was curious to see if other people made this switch. I've started incorporating whole milk cheeses and yogurts, but am having a hard time with whole milk-although I try using it in recipes, just can't seem to drink a glass of it.
It is so true, I grew up thinking all fats were bad, and I am amazed to see that it may actually be affecting my fertility. We shall see if it helps!

Ive heard this as well! its hard, you spend your life on a diet, and all the sudden you are given the go ahead for all these "bad" foods...
Whole milk tastes really thick and yucky to me...maybe you can try Greek Yogurt (yum) or even a treat of some all natural, full fat ice cream a few days a week?

Newsweek did an artilcle https://www.newsweek.com/id/73354/page/1 on a Harvard Research study which is really comprehensive. The article is called "Fat, Carbs and the Science of Conception". FWIW they state that whole milk and whole milk products increase fertility and low fat and skim milk products reduce fertility.
Hope this helps.
