I think my dog had a stroke

Kenzie has been with me for 9 years, he was an abused rescue dog. (He was made to fight, and came to rescue injured and terrified. He is an tiny terrier mix, who is 8lbs soaking wet) he is a west highland terrier, wire haired terrier, cairn terrier and some other undetermined mix.

My mom actually brought him home for me. I didnt pick him out and at first, I said to my mom, I am taking him back to the shelter, he is an ugly, timid, unfriendly dog, not a cute sweet puppy, like I wanted. But somehow, that first night, when he tentatively crawling into my lap, he also crawled in my heart, and we have been together ever since. He is gentle with Ethan, he is our teeny tiny watchdog, who is the size of a terrier, but thinks he has the brawn of a doberman.We have no idea how old he is, vets said when I got him he could be as young as 2, and as old as 8. So he could be anywhere from 10 to 16.

This morning, he was sitting on top of Todd's chair, as he often does, looking out the window at the kids getting on the bus and suddenly made a noise I can only describe as screaming, and fell from the back of the chair to the seat of the chair. He stumbled down to the floor and sort of 1/2 stood, 1/2 sat and continued to make that awful noise. I went to him and held him, and he contined for about 90 seconds. Then he started to whimper, and he is still whimpering. He can walk, but he is sort of shuffling. He keeps going under the kitchen table and lying down, which is very unlike him. We are heading to the vet in a couple of minutes. I don't know what to expect. I suspect stroke, but I hope I am wrong.

I am heartbroken at the thought of it. I don't want to ask for prayers for my dog, but if you want to give any, I would never turn them down.

Oh no..poor doggie..I hope it is nothing serious and he is back to himself soon..he is adorable and of course he will be in my prayers...

So sorry...it's awful to have to watch your pet in pain! My dog has seizures often, which can be controlled w/ meds. She's a lot better on the meds but still still have a seizure occasionally and it's still scary for everyone!
