Edisto Beach?

DH are trying to plan our vacation for this summer.

We have a timeshare and are a little limited to choice because of the time frame we can go this year.

Has anyone heard of Edisto Beach, SC.  It is one of the places that has availability when we can go.  The other option is North Myrtle Beach.  My husband and I were there two years ago, and enjoyed, but we are always open to something new.

Re: Edisto Beach?

  • Love Edisto Island...used to go there as a kid.  Watch out for the gators though :-)  Much quieter than Myrtle.

  • dear jess,

i went there last year for a few days. the weather happened to be poo while i was there, but it was a neat little place. not a ton to do (that we did, anyway) but charlston is a short drive away.

there is a great little market: main's market. if you like tomato, you muuuuuuust get 'miss ettas tomato pie.' it is amazing. i have tried recreating it to no success.

    happy post-pi day,

  • We just moved from that area, but strangely I've only been to Edisto once.  It's a nice beach as far as east coast beaches go, and it's conveniently located to Charleston, Beaufort, and Savannah, all great historic little places.  North Myrtle beach is more commercial, while Edisto is laid back.  I would choose Edisto, and if you do, make sure you hit up Charles Towne Landing State Historic site.  Great place to spend a day outdoors, with a walk-on trade ship, great museum, and the Animal Forest (I used to be a zookeeper there!).
