To be honest, I can't remember it ever being something we talked about until I went into labor. It is possible that we did talk about it and I don't remember. I can't say that they were as encouraging as a birthing center or a doula and I know that they Dr. that delivered me did not have a natural birth herself. The key I have found from talking to people that go natural is laboring at home as long as you can. Feel free to shoot me an email: Beth413@yahoo.com.
from what i was told, they will support your decision. But i was also told that the nurses roll their eyes and take bets on how long until the laboring mom cracks and starts begging for drugs.

That's sad, huh? But unfortunately probably true in some cases.

One of my former girlfriends is a nurse and she said when she did her L&D rotation they did the same thing. She told me that I had no clue what I was talking about and that she didn't think I'd make it more than 3 hours without pain meds, there was no way I'd actually deliver med free. Thankfully, she and her DH are now divorced and I no longer have to deal with her lovely attitude
That doesn't surprise me about the nurses. Working in health care, we all say and think things that we shouldn't. The norm is getting an epi, so they really push it. It makes their job easier. This is why I want a doula. That and DH doesn't do well when I am in pain.

All in all, I would highly recommend them.
