First birthday cakes

I remember people posting that if you bring in the birth certificate, some places will give you a free cake.  2 questions - which places do this and what happens if her party isn't until a week after her actual birthday?  Do I go in on the day of and order it for the following week, or is it only good the day of?

Re: First birthday cakes

  • I know Lunds and Byerly's do that. We got ours at Lunds and it was great. I think you can just order it for any time around their birthday and you'll be just fine.

  • I work in the bakery at Coborns. You can get a free 6 inch birthday cake but you have to order another cake. Most people order 1/4 cake and the 6" is the same colors as the big cake. You don't need any proof of age.

  • My coworker did this at Byerly's and said the free cake was huge!  She wasn't sure if they made a mistake or not, but said it was so big.

I would call and ask about the party being a week later.  I can't imagine it would be an issue but would always call first to ask.

  • Only Lunds and Byerlys will give you a free cake.

Queen of Cakes, you need to buy the cake, but you get a free smash cake.

  • We got DS#2 his free cake from Byerlys. It was a 6inch round cake with primary balloons.
