I had a c-section on April 3rd and I am all of a sudden extremely swollen! I was at the hospital a little bit, but it's actually getting worse. Is this normal? At what point would it not be normal? TIA!
I was quite swollen for 5-7 days post-csection. Try sitting with your legs up and drink lots of fluids! If the swelling is getting really bad, call your doctor, it could be a symptom of something else.
I was so swollen after my c/s that I gained 7 pounds!
It started off slowly and was at it's worst 9 days after LO was born. DS was in the NICU and everyday I asked the nurses, "Is this ok?!?!?!?!"
I couldn't even put socks on I was so swollen! My pants were too tight for my legs and my skin was so stretched it felt like I had a sunburn.
It was BAD!
I annoyed my OB calling him every other day telling him it was worse. Finally he said, "Look I can make it go away, but you won't be able to breast feed." I was just worried that something was wrong and had never heard of swelling THAT MUCH after giving birth. I have a nike jacket that is supposed to be a tighter fit. It seriously cut off the circulation in my arms because it was so tight.
I was so swollen too - a side effect that I never heard before! It took mine 8 looooooong days to go away. I wore slippers to my doctor appts!
Happy Birthday, little man. We love you so much!

Re: Swelling after c-section...
I looked horrible about a week after my c/s. It was so bad I couldn't put on any of my shoes.
It took about 2 weeks after the c/s to go away completely.

This was also my experience. I didn't have ton of swelling in my hands/upper body, but I had cankles for at least a week and a half!
