Okay, I'm sort of obsessing... but, my son's growth has slowed down a bit and I don't know if this is normal or not. He was small when he was born (6 lb, 11 oz and 20 in long) but quickly gained weight and was 8 lb 2 oz at 2 weeks. Then, at 5 weeks, he was 9 lb 9.5 oz. At 9 weeks, he was 12 lb 4 oz and 23.25 inches long. Today, at 2 days shy of 12 weeks, he weighs 13 lb 10.8 oz.
Because I'm being an obsessive nerd, I figured out that during weeks 0-2, he gained 0.72 lb (11 oz)/week, during weeks 2-4, he gained 0.73 lb (11 oz)/week, from weeks 5-9, he gained 0.66 lb (10 oz)/week, and during 9-12 weeks, he gained 0.46 lb (7 oz)/week.
He's eating great, has lots of poopy and pee diapers, he's happy, he looks very healthy, he's chubby, and he sleeps well at night. So... I probably don't need to worry, right? Is it normal for breastfed babies to stop gaining weight so quickly? We feed him about 4-5 ounces every 3 hours during the day when I'm at work, and when I'm home, I give him whatever he wants from the breast every 3 hours, except overnight when he usually goes 5-7 hours.
