3rd Trimester

Anyone else carrying painfully high?

This baby girl lives above my belly button. My doctor doesn't seem too concerned, but I'm ready for her to move down soon. After lunch, it feels like my belly is going to split open from my belly button to my sternum. It hurts!

Anyone else carrying so high it hurts? I'm wondering if it's because of my really short torso.

Re: Anyone else carrying painfully high?

  • Yes I feel the exact same way! I also have a really short torso (I'm 4'9"). I feel like my stomach is pushed way up into my lungs and if I try to eat then I can't breathe. LO is definitely above/at my belly button and makes it even harder to breathe. I don't think it's going to get any easier on us short ladies.

  • Yes, this baby is sitting high but only recently decided to go high.  I have carried low most of my pregnancy but the last 2 or 3 days the baby decided to try some place new.  OR he/she hit a growth spurt and has no more space so it just feels high.

heartburn, difficulty breathing, and rib kicks are great huh?

  • I am 5'7 and carrying very high and deep.  I didn't really start looking pregnant until 28ish weeks.  I still don't think I've really popped.  My ribs hurt daily from the pressure.  I'm not worrying about her dropping lower until closer to my due date.  I think she is just nice and comfy cuddling close to me and no where near ready to come out because it's so nice in there.  (Well, at least thinking this way makes it easier to cope).

  • ME!!! I'm ready for her to drop into position asap!
  • Eden stayed high until Saturday night when he dropped once and then again she dropped on Monday, now she's nice and low so that I waddle.

Before Saturday I could still easily wear my pants from prePG that is how high she was.

  • Oh and I'm 5'11" with a long torso, so I doubt it's bc of your short torso.

  • omgosh I did and I thought I was going to die!  she has finally dropped down some in the past week and I thought I was going to bust out crying with happiness.

I couldn't breathe, it hurt to eat and she would kick upwards - I swear she was trying to either kick out my lungs or really mess up my diaphragm

  • me! I am short-waisted too and the baby is so high I can even really bend forward at all anymore - or else I get body parts in the ribs. I have heartburn just from drinking water it is so bad
  • I am 5'10" and my little one has her head stuck into my ribs. I can barely sit by the end of the day at work because I am soooo uncomfortable and want to cry. And I thought at 5'10" I would have plenty of room. Not so much.

  • Not me.  This LO couldn't be any lower.  Let's just say pants hurt to wear & they are not too tight elsewhere, just on my bump.  It indents me & makes marks.  Thank godness it's srping weather so I can wear dresses 24/7.

Yep, I have to admit that I still only have one pair of maternity pants. She's up so high that the bella band still works fine with my regular pants/jeans. I'm sure once she drops I'll need a new wardrobe!

  • I carried my son super high right to the end. He was breech til 38 weeks and then couldn't fit into my pelvis.  (He was 9 lbs 6 oz, 22 in long and had a 14 1/2 in head!)   So uncomfortable!!

This little girl though has been SOOOO low for months now.  Like she's been in my pelvis for months.   I have SO much pain and pressure in my hips and butt!  Definitely cons to both carrying very high and very low!  But I feel your pain!
