Pregnant after a Loss

Doppler yes or no?

I've been thinking about renting a doppler for at home.  But I don't know if this would make me less stressed or MORE, like I'd want to be doing it all the time.  I'd like some input from the ladies who did rent them or those that didn't why you didn't.  Thanks!!!!!

Re: Doppler yes or no?

  • I had one and it was great during my first trimester. I sold mine around 17w and I'm glad I did. Once I started feeling him that was all I needed. It's a personal choice. I couldn't find the hb once and was hysterical. So, yes it can be stressful.

  • I didn't get one just b/c I didn't want any more stress. Plus my DH would probably think I was nuts and my NP advised against me getting one. It really is a personal choice.
  • I didn't even consider it because I was trying to keep the stress down.  I didn't even go in for betas or an early u/s until 12 weeks.  I figured if I made it that far, I was doing pretty good.  It's a personal choice, so it's really up to you.  Good luck!

  • I love mine! I was able to find the hb last week. I think you just need to gauge your likihood to freak out if you can't find it. It's really helped me relax.

  • I didn't.  I figured that it was one more thing I could do to stress myself out if I couldn't find the heartbeat.  Some days I wished I'd had one, but I do not regret not buying/renting one.

  • I don't think it's necessary. You see so many posts here from women freaking out because they can't see hear the heartbeats on a home doppler. Sometimes even medical professionals have trouble with it if the baby moves a lot, so I knew it would just cause me excess stress.
  • I am so glad that I had mine.  I used it 2 - 3x's a week.

  • I bought the hi bebe and I haven't regretted it at all. I've been able to find the heartbeat consistently from fairly early on. The peace of mind it has given me has been invaluable. Every time I've been a little worried, I could get reassurance without calling the doctor's office.
  • Definitely yes! I was sorried about it a little too, but I'm SO glad I got one. Hearing the heartbeats anytime I want is reassuring, just knowing that I can prevents me from doing it constantly. I use it about every other day. I think you'll love it.
  • sorried = worried   Oops. :)
  • I rented one and I'm so glad I did. I think was around 13 wks when I got it and have been able to find the heartbeat everytime.  It takes practice and patience sometimes but I really did enjoy it...it didn't stress me out. Having it was like peace of mind for me.  I was afraid to get one at first, too. Everyone is different though.
  • I bought mine at Amazon at 14 weeks.  It was so reassuring to have it.  Even when I could not find it.  I would just stop and try again a little later on.  Now that the baby is moving, I use it on the days that she doesn't move so much for more reassurance.  I am so glad that I have it when I need it.  To me it was worth every penny and cheaper than renting it.
