When did you give LO a blanket in their crib?

At my son's 6 month check up, I asked the dr about pillows and blankets. He said he could have a blanket now, but no pillow for another year or more. Even with the green light, DH and I are afraid to give him a blanket.

He has not rolled over, and is pretty much in the same place every morning that I left him the night before. I'd like to give him a small blanket, but I'm worried about SIDS.

So, when did you let LO have a blanket in their crib?

We started with a breathable cotton blanket at 6 months.

From 2 weeks... I always tuck it under his armpits, so far we have had no problems. We have no bumpers either.

the only time i EVER put a blanket over ds is MAYBE during a nap in the daytime and it is a crocheted blanket with lots of holes. this way, i am awake too, and can check him on the video monitor a lot. at night, when we are sleeping, he wears his halo sleepsack. i'm not sure when i will feel comfortable enough to give him a blanket at night.

He's been using a crocheted blanket for several months now. We switched when he outgrew his sleep sacks.

We started using a blanket when we stopped swaddling at about 3.5 months. I always tuck it under her armpits, and for right now she doesn't move around a lot in her sleep so I'm not really worried about it. Now that she's in her crib I tuck it into the sides of the crib and the only time she ever has it near her face is when she wakes up because she likes to chew on it!
