Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Does anyone still pump at work?

And if so, how long do you intend on continuing?

I stopped bringing my pump to work last week, but I am really nervous about getting a clogged duct.  I got my first one a couple weeks ago at the same time the stomach virus hit.  Worst two days of my life ever.

Re: Does anyone still pump at work?

  • Wow, I give you a lot of credit for still pumping.  I stopped pumping at work around 7 months and nursed until 13 months.

  • Ooh, I really want to quit both, but DD is just so much easier when I can nurse her, so really it's not for her, it's for me.  I am trying to lessen nursing sessions as much as I can, and I am keeping my fingers crossed that she self-weans in a reasonable amount of time.
  • I do!  I'm pumping 2x and thinking I'll be done pumping around 15-16 months. I think DS has a milk protein intolerance so i'm still sending BM during the day.  I don't think it's severe because he can eat yogurt but if he eats it often, he tends to have frequent, loose stools. I'm debating on introducing cow's milk vs. soy milk but we just had a bad reaction to peanut butter so I want to hold off a little longer.

  • I do! Only 1x/day though, and I only work 2 days/week, so it's not that bad. DS is 14 months and still nurses 3x/day usually (sometimes 4) and I'm too scared of not pumping because a) I don't want to mess with my supply, we're not ready to wean and b) I don't want a clogged duct or even just the extreme discomfort I'd have if I didn't pump/nurse for the 12 hours. :)

  • I also give you mad props for still pumping!  I stopped pumping during the day at 11 months, but had enough BM in the freezer to give it to DD until she was 13.5 months at daycare.  We continued to nurse morning, after work and at bedtime until she was 17 months and she self weaned.  Good for you for still going!
