Anyone know about buying a franchise

We've been tossing the idea of looking into purchasing a franchise restaurant around..... anyone know how to go about this!?

    What kind of franchise? DH's family owns a string of Subways, they are relatively cheap to open. I heard McDonalds is on the more expensive side.

    Cafe Zupas (they do gourmet soups, salads and sandwiches!)

    Basically, you have to figure out which franchise you want.  Many require you to have a large amount of capital and over a certain amount of money in the bank.  Some are for free standing buildings (that need to be built), others don't require that.  You have to contact the companies that you are interested in.  Plus, you have to pay the franchise costs.  My husband and I looked into it, a couple of years ago, but because of the economy decided it was a terrible time.
