Of course I wont be over here here for a little while, but I was just wondering, later in your pregnancy, how accurate was your doctors guess at how much LO weighed? I was talking to someone earlier and she asked what they think my LO weighs, I said about 4 pounds and she said add 2lbs, and that all of her kids weighed way over what they expected...any truth to that for you all? I know its a dumb question, and everyone is different, but it just got me thinking about how accurate ultrasounds and docs are at guessing the weight. Thanks!

My doc was pretty much right on about how much DD was going to weigh, she was 8 lbs 6 oz when she was born.

When I was in the hospital, the OB nurse and the OB said that I was going to have a big baby (Doctor said "high 8's"). Turns out my "big" baby only weighed 6 lbs, 6 oz.

In my case, they were very, very wrong.

Mine was pretty accurate, but I had the u/s on the same day I was induced. I don't know about if it were weeks in advance.

The day dd was born we had an u/s and they told me she was about 7 lbs. she came out at 6 lbs 15 oz so they were right on!

My doctor never guessed. he was 8lbs 14 oz at birth. But many of my friends have been told they were having "huge" babies and they all came out about 7lbs - totally not huge!

I didn't have an ultrasound, but my doc just felt my belly at my 39 week appt and said DD would be about 8 lbs when born. However, I went 4 days overdue and she weighted 9 lbs 6 oz!!! My dr was shocked at how big DD was.

The week before I went into labor he was estimated to be 6lb 3oz? He was born at 6lb 11oz...so for me it was accurate.

My dr quessed that he would be over 9 and he ended up being 8 lbs 9 oz and was delivered at 39 weeks 6 days.

While I was in labor the dr felt my belly and said she was going to be 8lbs and she ended up being 7lbs 15.9ozs so the dr was dead on.

The day before I was induced they guessed 6 pounds and she weighed 6 pounds 1 ounce. So pretty much right on the money here.

The day before I delivered (at my 38 weeks appt), my doc guessed 7 1/2 pounds by feeling my belly. He was born the next day at 7 lbs 8 oz exactly! But, my doc also has a reputation for guessing babies' weights really well.

The day before I delivered my Dr. guessed about 8-9 lbs, and the next day DD was 8lbs 6 oz:)

With my son...totally diffrent. They estimated 10+ lbs...he was 7lbs 2 oz

My ob said 6.5 lbs about 2 weeks before my lo was due. When she was born she weighed 5.14lbs. So she was a little off.

Mine was pretty accurate, but she does have a reputation for guessing on the high side. She usually predicts that the baby will be bigger than they turn out to be.

The doctor was right on. She measured right in the middle (average) the whole time. He estimated 7 1/2 lbs, and she was 7 lbs 13 oz at birth.

At 35 weeks the doctor palpated my abdomen and guessed I would have a 7.5-8lb baby. She was 8lbs 6 oz, so she was close.

My midwife felt my belly at my 37 week appointment and guessed he was around 8 lbs. I had a growth u/s at 37w1d and the u/s tech guessed the same. He was born 6 days later at 38w0d weighing 7 lbs 15 oz - so for me they were both pretty accurate!

I had an ultrasound exactly a week before he was born and the dr was right on his weight. But I have heard that they can be off by a pound sometimes.

I was measuring right on average and my OB predicted 8-9 pounds and he was 10 pounds 7 ounces. I am tall though and must have been hiding him well.

Mine was right on. She said 8-9 pounds, closer to 9, and my baby weighed 8 lbs. 10 oz, delivered 2 days past her due date.

Mine was pretty accurate. At 38 weeks they estimated 7 lbs 2 oz. and when he was born at 39 weeks he was 7 lbs 12 oz, whic is pretty consistent with the 1/2 lb weight gain per week at the end.

I had growth u/s every other week with a perinatalogist and at the appointment a few days before DS was born, he told me DS was 4 lbs 6 oz. When he was born 7 weeks early, he weighed 3 lbs 7 oz. So, the peri's "guess" was a pound over.

The idiot u/s tech said 6lb 13 oZ at my 38 week appt and when LO was born at 39weeks 1 day, she was only 5lbs8oz. I knew she was smalle than what the tech said - I watched her read the grams to lbs chart incorrectly. I did the math and it came out to 5lb12oz... Which was obviously wrong also.

I asked how big my oldest was at my last appt, about 2 days before she was born. He estimated 6 lbs by palpating the baby through my belly. She was 6lbs 2oz. I was impressed!

My dr did an ultrasound the day of my c-section, and estimated 9 lbs, 3 oz. DD was 8lbs, 13 oz.
