Just an FYI -
By the time you push the baby out, your make-up will most likely be off.
I went in last time w/ a little bit of powder & mascara on. I was being induced & I was out shopping all day. I started to be induced at 6pm & had DS at 7:23 PM the NEXT day. All of my make-up was gonezo.
I was in way too much pain & WAY too tired to fix myself up during that process. Can you imagaine making yourself look pretty while throwing up??
I did fix myself up right after though.
I still think I looked good. LOL
Re: S/O make-up during delivery...
not to mention getting in and out of the tub/shower during labor, the sweat, the cool rags on my face, etc.
Yeah, any makeup I would have had was LONG gone. But I did put some on the next morning when family came and that was when most of the pictures were taken.
I was in labor for 7 hours with DS and wore make-up (I was induced and sent straight to L&D from my appt)... it stayed on the whole time.
But I didn't fix it during labor and I certainly didn't look all done up in my first pics with my son. But I'm still glad I wore a little! I plan to wear it again this time (if things work out... of course.)

7 hours!!! That is wonderful. I hope it goes quicker for me this time.
lol! It is funny you say this. My sister went into labour at my wedding. She was my maid of honour, so that morning we got our hair and make-up done. She started her contractions during the ceremony, left right after the ceremony and had her baby the next morning. She was the best looking girl going into the labour room, but you are right, her hair and make-up were completely ruined by the time the baby was out.
I'm not going to bother with make-up.
ETA: my date was set before she got PG and she was 5 days early (in case anyone was wondering)
I KNOW! I was hoping that it would only be 7 hours this time too
Even my doc was impressed, lol. She said "you were induced with Pitocin at 38 weeks and delivered a 9lb 5oz baby in 7 hours??"

This. I usually just brush on a touch of Bare Minerals to even out my skintone, and that's it (I have rosacea). Nothing else. I just want to get through labor quickly and safely...not worried at all what I'm going to look like!
This exactly. Even if you look like crap in your pictures, who care?? YOUR SUPPOSED TOO! You just pushed a bowling ball out of your vagina your pictures will look like crap. This whole conversation is asinine and stupid.
I think this is just an issue of to each their own. There were plenty of second time moms who were very happy to have had makeup and there were others who couldn't care less.
I think the important thing for labor is to do whatever makes you feel most comfortable, be it bringing your own pajamas to labor in or wearing a face of makeup.
ETA: and I think it's harsh to say it's stupid to want to spruce up. This is a major event and different people plan differently. Stupid is running blindfolded in traffic, not wearing makeup to the hospital. If anything, it's ambitious. I'm not going to do it, but I'm not going to fault someone else for wanting to.
LOVE THIS!!!! I've had 2 children and my pj's, hair and makeup were the LAST thing on my mind!!!
I have zero interest in wearing any makeup through the process.
I am supportive of women doing what makes them feel good and if it's makeup then more power to them.
Mikaela is going to have a little brother!
For some reason I have this weird mental image whenever anyone mentions make-up during delivery of the doctor, nurses, etc., all of whom have front row seats to mom pushing a baby out of her vagina with bodily fluids (and possibly solids) coming out all kinds of places, and they look up at Mom with perfect make-up and think "Wow, she looks nice."
Yea, right. I often wonder who it is anyone is trying to look pretty *for*.
