So Excited! Just signed DD up for

Soccer!

I am so excited to be getting her into her first "activity"!

Two seems so young to start with the extra curricular activities but she LOVES kicking balls and running around so I hope she enjoys it.

Anyone else have their kids in any kind of "organized" activity or lessons at this age? How did they like it? We get a trial class before we have to make the 12 week commitment so if she completely hates it, we aren't locked into anything long term.

  • CallmeKel and I have our kids in soccer also.  We ended up going through the city. The age range is 3-5 which seems like a huge age difference to me.  We have quite a few friends who also have their 3 year olds enrolled and they all seem to have a much harder time than the older kids.

My kid did great the first 2 practices then at the 3rd practice he refused to go out on the field (which is some of the issues our other friends mentioned with their kids).  The first game he didn't even hit the field, but last week he went out there, after some major coaxing but still wasn't "involved" in the game much.

CallmeKel will probably have different experience with Kendall being 4 this year.  From what I saw from Kendall when she played she had a good time and participated like all of her other team mates.

  • Thanks for the feedback! I am sure my DD will pull this on me and not want to go out on the field at some point.

I forgot to mention that at this age/level it has complete parent participation. We go on the field with the kids and kick the balls back and forth to them and run with them through the cones etc. No games just getting the kids comfortable on the field and with the equipment. I guess a glorified playtime. :)

  • DD has been doing tap and ballet since September. She really seems to like it. It's part of her MDO/daycare, so she's with kids that she's familiar with and in the beginning one of their regular teachers stayed there until they were comfortable with the dance teacher. Of course the end of the year recital will probably be a bust - I'm totally expecting DD to refuse to go on stage - but she's been having fun with it all year and that's more important than one evening of recital.
