i know that peeps have said the carter's stuff runs more true to size. i'm looking at it on BRU and feeling conflicted though between nb and 0-3. i *thought* i remembered people saying that they were able to get more usage out of the carters nb size than other brands but the weight they give on here says it fits from 5-8lbs? and then 0-3 says 8-12lbs.
are we still talking only a few weeks of time in nb sizes for carters too?
Re: carter's sizing ? (again i know, sorry!)
probably just a few weeks to a month, but it is nice to have some things that really fit even if you can make do with 0-3. i have probably about 40/60 split between nb and 0-3 for baby girl. we got about a month and a half out of DS nb sizes once he came home. he was 7lb3oz when we came home from the hospital.
i love carters - they are so soft and the colors hold up so well with frequent washing :-) i will be sad when DS no longer fits in their stuff! i can't believe he is wearing some 18 month sized stuff already!
We actually ended up with the opposite... because so many people feel this way now, no one bought us NB stuff, very few gave us 0-3 and I have a ton of 3-6!
That said, Sophie is doing just fine in onesies and pants, sleepers, and a few cute outfits. We've only left the house a couple of times.
Carter fit my DD better but she was only in NB for a day or two ok (maybe more like a week maybe two but not long at all), no matter what brand it was as she was 8lbs 9oz. If you have a small baby it will fit longer however they grow so fast that they don't stay in anything long.
She is now wearing anything from size 6 months to 12 months depending on what it is. Pretty much the only thing that still fits her that is 6 months are her carter's onesies. The problem is she is really long. 21" at birth and 26" at 4 months.
Keep in mind that you will most likely get lots of new clothes from ppl after she is born.
Lyte - Baby C is long and we don't have any NB stuff...all 0-3. It fits fine or needs just the arms rolled up once.
STAY AWAY from Gerber onesies - we were given 3 packs of 5 onesies and a bunch of hand-me-downs and none of the hand-me-downs fit so we're taking all of the packs back. Too short and don't fit over fluffy butts.
yep - gerber is bad. my little peanut has outgrown the length of gerber 24 month onesies with his cloth on!
just to give you an idea of the disparity, his carters 12 month stuff fits perfect right now, though we make the 18 month work since i don't want to buy warm weather stuff too small to last all summer. gerber is crap - lol!
and yes i realized i have replied in this post 3 times....i am obsessed with the annoying sizing of clothing. i hate it in women's clothes, i hate it in children's clothes. i feel judged when things are just S, M, L but sizing is so inaccurate anyway. i feel that sizing at least for pants etc should be like men's clothes - in inches and concrete things like that! but that is a rant for another day...
