First off....keep in mind my water broke with my son at 37 1/2 weeks. And I never dialated past a 5 so I had him by c-section.
So Friday the 25th of July was 37 weeks with my daugther so I started to feel the pressure to be "Ready".
Friday night my son and I went to Costco and Target for "last minute items". Then we shopped at Freddies on Saturday for everything else we couldn't get on Friday. And I told the checker that day that my "big" plans this weekend were to have my baby. Little did I know!
Saturday I was exhausted from all the shopping so I was in bed by 8:30...I kept waking up having to pee. On the third time I thought this was ridiculous since I hadn't drank nearly THAT much water all day! So I started paying attention to the clock and realized I was being woken up every 1/2 hour! Starting at 10 pm. By 12:30 I thought maybe I'd try to stay awake to see if I was having contractions...sure enough, that was what was really waking me up!
But at that time they weren't very steady....4 minutues, then 7 then 6 then 8 then 4 again. I thought well, here goes, but I still have hours right? WRONG!
I took a warm bath at 1 am and timed them in the bath...they'd increased to a steady 4 1/2 minutes! I still felt like I had a long time though!
So I called L&D and they agreed to have me come in, so I had to still PACK! I was going to do that on Sunday! (well I guess it WAS Sunday by then!)
And I had to wake my Aunt up so we could drop off my 18 month old son with her. So by 2:15 we were headed to the hospital. In the car the contractions were every 3 minutes apart and I couldn't talk during them! I started to really feel the panic and the pain!
Upon arriving at the hospital (2:45 am) they got busy getting my IV and then they called for the epidural right away as by then I was writhing in pain and they were coming very close together. My husband said I was dr jekyl and mr hyde as I was screaming in pain during a contraction and then sweet as pie answering questions between them!
I swear it was the LONGEST 45 minutes waiting for the epi to get in and start working! They checked me when we arrived and I was dialated at 5-6 and 90% effaced, when the epi finally kicked in at 3:30 I was fully dialated and 100%...technically I was ready to push! But they hadn't officially admitted me yet so they wanted to do that while I relaxed and caught some rest before I had to push.
But everything was in place for me to have a successful vbac! And I did just that! at 5 am they had me do a practice push and then it was all systems go....20 minutes later my daugther was born!
If this works here are her pics!
