I am looking for a Doula to assist with our baby's arrival in March. Probably will deliver at Kaiser Sunnyside. Anyone have any rec's? I am just getting started, but want to meet and interview several before we make our decision.
We used Stacey at MotherTree. We met a few times so that she knew exactly what we were hoping for with the birth experience. I liked that she supported our desire to have an unmedicated birth with as few interventions as possible, but she wasn't hippy, woo woo about the birth process (not meaning to offend anyone) - which wouldn't have worked for me.
She was a great advocate for us and worked hard to keep DH and me focused when things got more intense. She and my doctor worked amazingly well together too. She was with us for nearly all the 35 hours of labor and stayed until both babies were nursing. She also checked in the following day at the hospital and again at home.
I feel I should add a couple things I really liked about MotherTree. First, they have a ton of doulas, so if your person is sick or busy or whatever, there's always someone to step in. Second, the person who answers the phone asks a lot of questions and suggests doulas she thinks would be a good match for you. Then they let you meet with as many of the doulas as you want before you select one.
Tara- are you on crack??? Yeah right beezy!! I will definetly get an epi, I just like the idea of having someone walk me through labor and be an advocate for me, that can tell me if I need drugs or how to breathe or whatever. Ideally i would like as few drugs as possible, but hopefully an epi will be easy for me to get : )
Hi, I have a great req. for a doula. I am not due until Dec. 9th and this is my first, but so far I have loved my doula. Her name is Katie Briggs and I have included her website. https://www.supportedstart.com/
I met and talked with several doulas before meeting Katie and I clicked with her right from the start. Being that this is my first baby, and I have no friends with kids, I was really looking for that support and advice. And so far she has been great, and most important I feel very comfortable with her.

Thank you so much! That place looks great!
I also don't want a really hippy-person, just not my style. I'm too high maintanance and would annoy the heck out of them, i'm sure : )
