Teachers?

Are there any teachers for the DOE here? I'm super confused about maternity leave.  If I give birth end of June, do I still get my 6 weeks? Is this different then weeks you get for the family leave act? How long do I get to keep my health benefits if not working?  

Does anyone have GHI and deciding not to go back to work? How much does it cost for a basic family plan if I can't keep my benefits?

    I am a teacher for the NYCDoE and I have those same questions.  The UFT runs maternity workshops on the first tuesday of each month.  They address these questions.  I am thinking of going because I can't ask anyone the answers to these questions yet and it's making me nervous.  I think each borough may do their own.
