37 weeks and still exercising? how do u feel after?

Hi! I am 37 weeks and my exercising now consists of weight lifting and walking:) But after even a 2 mile walk I am super tired and my body is sore and swollen.

What is it like for you? How do you feel after?

  • I've started having contractions when I do too much so I'm pretty much nixing the exercise thing.

  • I'm only 29 weeks, but I'm still exercising... it's just becoming increasingly more tiring.

  • I just exercised last night.  I walked about a mile and a half before I had to stop.  I felt sore, and my feet were swollen.  I may cut this down or off completely.
  • I am not quite 37 weeks, but almost!  Walking definitely causes me some BH contractions, but I think it is helping me sleep better at night to get the workout in.  I am willing to suffer a little if it means sleeping!  I always slow down or rest if it gets really uncomfortable.
  • I am 36 weeks and still exercising. My pelvic pain is getting to the point where a lot of it is painful, though. I have been enjoying my pregnancy workout DVD, but now even the light cardio (side steps, v steps and such) and lunges hurt. It's already been several weeks since I've been able to walk a decent distance comfortably.

I'm going to try out the elliptical at the gym today since that hasn't hurt in the past. It has been a few weeks since I've tried it, but I'm hoping it's still ok because I'm running out of options!

Other than the pelvic pain, I feel fine after a workout.

  • I try to do 30 mins on the elliptical or take the dog for a 3-4 mile walk daily.  I also do light arm exercises 2-3x per week.  I find it makes me feel a little better, but its getting increasingly hard to motivate myself to get moving.  I find the elliptical is a little easier than walking now as my back and knees hurt after our walks.

  • I have been going for some pretty good walks lately. Sometimes I feel great after and other times I feel super sore and achy. Last night, I had a pretty easy walk, about 2 miles or so with no major hills and when I got home, my hips were SO sore, I could hardly move about an hour or two after I got home but a couple nights before DH and I went for a longer walk that involved some pretty steep hills and I felt so great after we got home. Not sure what causes the discomfort sometimes and others nothing, just play it by ear I guess.

  • I'm 36 weeks and I'm still walking.  My fingers get very swollen during my walk.  I wasn't exercising for awhile, but then I read an article that said only 1 of 4 women are exercising during pregnancy and it helps with labor and delivery.  My back seemed to feel better after my walk and also its helping me sleep better.

I guess it all depends on your fitness level and your comfort level in the home stretch.

  • I'm still spinning, lifting weights, walking, and doing illiptical.  I've noticed that the mornings I do spin I am very hungry, tired, and have really sore legs all morning.  I was very active PP, so I'd assume my body is just telling me to slow down a bit.  Next week is my last week at the gym.  After that I'll be down to walking and lifting weights.
  • I am still lifting, using my kettlebells, and doing intervals either on a step or the stairmill. I feel great afterwards (I'm 36 weeks). I recommend a support belt. Mine really helps. You can get them at Motherhood.
  • Saturday was my last workout!  I just think it's causing me more pain than doing any good.  Even walking makes me feel soooo sore!  I have been trying to stay active by cleaning and stuff like that.  Pretty sad when that feels like a workout! Smile
  • I was feeling just like you so about two or three weeks ago I even took out the pilates I was attempting twice a week, and am just focusing on daily 1-2 mile walks and doing squats. But we're going for a natural Bradley method labor and I need to be as rested as possible, so that's the main reason why I'm now trying to conserve energy.

  • I'm still walking quite a bit, but I had to give up lifting weights after I developed carpal tunnel syndrome in the hands at around 32 weeks.  I am still doing some nesting-related lifting of boxes, house cleaning, and such, but I try to take frequent breaks and it's nowhere near the kind of lifting involved when I trained with weights.  And my hands hurt like a b!tch afterwards.

  • I still exercise 4-5 times a week for an hour and a half or so. I walk, or do the elliptical, or stair-stepper, and resistance training. It helps me sleep at night to stay active and it helps me to feel healthy. I will admit that walks have become uncomfortable, but I make sure to rest when I need to and drinks lots of water and pee! My feet and hips usually hurt after the walks, but they hurt just as badly if I don't walk...so I am sticking with it!
  • I try to do a lot around the house and outside everyday - today I went for a 45 minute walk with Diesel my pug. Now I feel crampy and am having some BH contractions. I think it may be time to do a bit less... lol.
