EPing - How much for a 1 week old?

I have a 1 week old tomorrow and I am EPing as we had latching issues in the hospital.  I have a couple of questions.  Were your one week olds on an eating schedule?  How much did they eat each time?

She has been all over the place as far as how much she wants and how quick or long she wants it.  I am able to keep up with her so far by pumping and I know I am very lucky for that.  Any advice would be great!

TIA Ladies!

  • I will say to continue trying to BF. I had latching problems too the first month, and I found the easiest way to get Nick to feed was in the football position b/c of my ginormous boobs. I let him BF as often as he wanted, and some days it felt like it was all day long. It will take some time; remember that the baby's stomach is about the size of a nut, so they get full faster but eat more often.

  • I EP for my 1 week old and she takes about 3oz every 4 hours or so with a snack in between if she needs it. She's a little piggy though Stick out tongue I didn't put her on that schedule she put herself on it and pretty much sticks to it unless she's having a rough night.

  • my lil girl ate about 1-1.5 oz at 1 week old.  she wanted to eat every 2-3 hrs, so that's the schedule we're on.  I'm having a harder time now pumping enough for her hunger-she's up to 2.5-3 oz ever 2 hrs.  I supplement with formula to fill her up.
  • This is about what we're at.  LO is eating 2.5 oz every 3 hours or so.  She does eat 3 oz at night but can make it 4 hours sometimes.  We go to the pediatrician tomorrow for a weight check so I will ask them too.  I just wanted to check with you ladies.
