Southern Girl has question -- help!

My DH and I are planning a trip to the city in the fall with our daughters. I'm concerned about getting around the city when we need to go further than we can walk.

Our youngest is 2 and still in a carseat. How do city moms manage that when taking a taxi? Do you bring a carseat? If so, do you have a lightweight one (ours weighs a ton)?

Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Christine

Re: Southern Girl has question -- help!

  • Mostly we take the subway or bus.  If you have DH with you it is very easy to manage climbing up and down stairs with a lightweight stroller in the (many) subway stations without elevators.  Even if you're on your own it isn't too bad if your 2yo can climb the stairs herself.  For the bus you need to take DD out of the stroller and collapse it.

As for the taxi, most people don't use carseats.  It isn't safe, but it is legal for children not to ride in a carseat in a taxi.
