new york vacation

Want to take my family there for a trip (dh (32), myself (28), ds (1) my dad (54) my mom (51) my sister (22) and my niece (3))

Would like to visit ground zero, stay some place nice/centrally located. Where should we stay? When should we visit? (thinking april/may) Do we need a car while there?

    The Marriott on Avenue of the Americas is nice and centrally located.  I wouldn't recommend staying in Times Square since it can get very crowded in that part of town.  April/May is a great time to come because it's before all the summer crowds get here (usually around June).  You definitely DO NOT need a car while you're here.  You'll likely just take taxis, the subway, or walk to get around the city.
