What's a good cereal to start with (organic?) ... ?

I know nothing about baby cereal and my LO is already 6 months!

Where can you buy a good wholesome rice cereal, with good ingredients, to start him off with? Any organic varieties that you like?

TIA!

Re: What's a good cereal to start with (organic?) ... ?

  • We skipped rice cereal and started with avocado, sweet potato, etc.  But when we did do cereal, we just did regular organic oatmeal (not instant) from Trader Joe's and mixed it with either a ripe banana or organic applesauce.

  • We skipped rice and started with oatmeal cereal just after 6 months. I've used both Earth's Best and Gerber organic varieties and like both. The Earth's Best seems "fluffier" and Gerber seems smoother, but both are good to us.
  • Cereal is overrated.  I'd skip it and start with solids that have nutritional content.  Sweet potatoes, avacado, banana, etc.

  • We use Earth's Best Organic rice cereal.  You can get it just about anywhere (walmart, target, grocery stores).  We give it to DD at breakfast mixed with fruit and she loves it that way.

  • we're going to start with earth's best rice, then their oatmeal, and then we're going homemade yellows.
