table food vs. stage 2 pureed meat

My son is 8 months old. We've tried stage 2 pureed meat a few times. Chicken and Apples, Turkey and Turkey Broth, etc. I know they say to have patience, but the look on his face when he forces himself to swallow it is like your torturing him with the taste. When is it safe to shred up chicken or turkey? Or rather, what substitutes can I use since I'm apparently not going to get him to eat the baby food jar meats? He only has 2 teeth on the bottom, but he's learning the process of chewing things. We've already started him on the Gerber Graduate Puffs and he does well with those. Any suggestions for my meat problem Moms?

  • I can't say I blame your DS...have you tried the stuff??  It's not so good.  I have the same problems with my DS.  I try to give him little pieces of meatballs and grilled chicken (like the size of a pencil eraser).  Sometimes my DS just stores the food away in his cheeks, sometimes he swallows it, sometimes he just spits it out.  My DS only had one tooth when we started doing this.  You just have to have patience...he'll get it eventually.

  • so you think any meat (except for fish and pork) are probably ok for him to eat at this age? of course, as long as it's cooked very well, correct?
