2nd Trimester

Quest. from 1st Tri.: Enlarged yolk sac

Hi ladies,

I had my second u/s today.  The first u/s measured me about a week behind my expected due date based on my LMP.  This u/s pushed me one additional day back.  On the bright side, we saw a heart beat that the doctor said was around 130bpm.

The doctor was worried, however, that I have an enlarged yolk sac.  She said that even despite the heartbeat, the chance of miscarriage was around 30%. Google searches have turned up much poorer survival rates.  I am losing my mind with grief.  Anyone out there with experience?  (p.s. I measured 6w5d today.)

    Definately!

Anytime your pregnancy makes you nervous, the best thing to do is walk away from the computer. FAR away from it. The Bump and Google are NOT your friends when worry is on board your boat.

    Good luck.

  • Sorry, I don't want to freak you out but my best friend had an enlarged yolk sac and miscarried a few weeks ago.  On the other hand she never did see the heartbeat so hopefully things will work out better for you.

  • STAY AWAY FROM GOOGLE!  But I will say at 6w 5d with this pregnancy there was no heart beat.  Not even a fetal pole.  I had an empty sac and that was it.  Needless to say a few weeks later all was fine but it was a few weeks of hell.  I of course am not a Dr. so I can't say don't worry it will be ok.  But I can say that it could be 100% ok.  That you should try not to worry as much as you can (yes impossible I know) and what ever it is stay positive. Good Luck and I hope you get good news in a few weeks =) and all is well.
