I'm delivering there. My doctors are associated with the hospital so I didn't have a choice. They said that it has a NICU and 24/7 specialists if we need them.
My doctors are associated with them too so unless I change practices I have no choice. If you don't mind me asking, what doctor do you go to? Will you be taking the classes at the hospital?
I delivered there and had a great experience. I had my ds at 35 weeks and he spent 10 days in the NICU. The nurses and drs were awesome! The rooms are nice and all of the staff were very friendly! There is one birthing room that is kinda small but the others are very nice! If you have any other questions, just page me here or on 0-6! Good luck!
Does Phoenixville have private recovery rooms? My friend had her baby there last July and had to share a room with another mom. I can't imagine that. It maybe something to look into, if this is still the case. Otherwise, she liked her experience at Phoenixville.
The rooms are semi-private. You can pay an additional $130 (I think) a day for a private. I was lucky and did not have a roommate. While I was there, everyone had a private room.
I had my two babies there, and they both spent time in the NICU (12 days and 4 days). I have no complaints!
The first time I was there, I was hospitalized for 9 days (water broke @ 34w), and I didn't have a roommate the whole time. The second time I was there for 3 days (C-section), and a girl moved in the morning in which I was leaving.
You DO have a choice! You can choose a midwife! Check out the Bryn Mawr Birth Center or the Reading Birth Center. Or even another hospital. Just because your doctor has priviledges at a certain hospital you can switch!
