shooting pain from groin down leg

Ouch! I got up out of my seat at work and I could hardly walk due to this weird shooting pain down my leg. It originated near my groin. The odd thing is that after I hobbled down to the bathroom and relieved my bladder...the pain went away? Not sure if that was just a coincidence. I've had this same pain pop up at night time when I try to roll over (just once, but it was memorable). I see my doctor later this week and will of course ask, but has anyone had anything like this?

Re: shooting pain from groin down leg

  • could be your siatic nerve.  The full bladder could have been pressing on it.

  • Definitely sounds like your sciatic nerve.  LO grows and starts moving things around and pressing on stuff.  Your full bladder was probably pressing on your sciatic nerve, which would result in a shooting pain down your one of your legs.

  • It sounds like your sciatic nerve. I had the same thing with my first born, and, again with this one. Actually, it never went away after my son was born, it just didn't hurt as bad and eventually you get used to it. When it acts up, my husband rubs my lower back for me and that helps. You could also try a heating pad...that also works. Just be careful in how you position yourself while sitting and sleeping. Crossing your legs while sitting can make it uncomfortable, and so can laying on your back while sleeping.

    Good luck!!
