I am just getting a chance to get back here and update everyone. Hope all is well with your pregnancies.
On March 16th I worked my regular 12 hour shift & noticied that I was really swollen at the end of the day. I thought it was just from being on my feet so I went home and took it easy. Then the following Thursday, I went in to work & had a terrible headache and was very dizzy with blurry vision. I ended up staying the night in the hospital & having some testing done for pre-eclampsia including a 24hour urine.
I went home on Friday morning still not feeling the best. That was probably one of the worst weekends of my life. I spent the entire time with a terrible headache that would not go away & being very dizzy with blurry vision. On Sunday I had had enough & was getting to the point of being terrified. DH & I decided it was time to go back to the hospital.
When I got there my blood pressure was very high. The results of my 24 hour urine collection came back & I was spilling a lot of protein. I was transferred from our small community hospital 50 miles away to the regional referral center. Before I left I was started on Magnesium Sulfate to prevent me from having a seizure. I was 27 weeks 4 days.
The next three days is a blur. I remained on Magnesium. I had a headache that despite IV Morphine would not go away. They prepared me that my baby would probably need to be delivered sooner rather than later. I had a short term goal of getting my steriod shots completed so that we could help her lungs mature.
On Wednesday my headache & vision got much worse. The high risk MFM doctor decided it was time to have her. I was preped for the OR & couldn't believe it was happening to me. My husband was right by my side & so wonderful & supportive.
After my spinal was in DH was able to join me in the OR. There was an excellent team of doctor, nurses and nurse practitioners. It was a sea of people in masks! It was a very surreal experience, I felt very seperated from everything that was happening.
On Wednesday March 24th at 2:19pm Sarah Paige arrived at 28 weeks. She weighed 2lbs 5.1oz and was 13 3/4in long. She let everyone know she had arrived by screaming loudly! She was taken to the NICU & has been doing better than expected ever since. Our baby girl is the most amazing blessing I have ever received.

That sounds terrifying. Glad to hear that she is going good, lots of T&P sent your way.
I'm so happy you and your LO are OK!
T and P!
Congrats on your little girl! Glad to hear she is doing well in the NICU. I had to deliver early due to pre-e as well, it was a very difficult experience. Please join us over at the preemie board if you'd like, there are a lot of ladies there who went through this, they really helped me get through the NICU rollercoaster.
