3rd Trimester

Tell me about 3rd Tri traveling

I am going on a 5 hour car ride this weekend, and a 4.5 hour ride at 35 weeks. Boo. Anyone have tips or experiences to share?

  • Take pillows and ways to elevate your feet, try to shift positions as much as you can, stop frequently to use the bathroom and walk around.

    Good luck and have fun!!

  • I did an 11 hour car ride during my last pregnancy at 28 weeks.  My doctor told me to make sure i was drinking lots of water and to stop and walk around about once an hour to help with circulation.  It actually went really well!  GL and safe travels!
  • I fly a lot, and just did my last pregnancy flight last week..... I find that drinking tons of water, bringing something to roll up behind my back as a "lumbar pillow" and munching on fresh fruit helps. Also, if you have HB, keep your tums close...I ALWAYS get worse HB when I travel.

  • You're good to travel until 36 weeks, usually.

But I didn't even follow the rules then and headed on a beach trip at 37w with DS.  I had him 4 days later.

  • At 28 weeks you should be ok, but 35 weeks it'll definately be tougher. I just went on a short trip this weekend (only 2 hours) and I was alot more uncomfortable in our SUV than I was expecting. Looking back, I may have preferred to sit on my couch all day :)
