I have spent all weekend OOT with my family, who have not seen Hayden since Christmas. Now almost everyone has said the following to me "Boy, what a solid boy he is. Can we say linebacker?" Now what exactly does this mean? Is solid a PC way of saying fat or is it something else entirely? I have just smiled and said "We will see about that" because there really isn't much else to say. Anyone have a definition for a baby being called solid?
Re: Does solid = fat?
No, solid does not mean fat. As he gets older, it could, but not now. Besides, if they thought he was fat, they'd call him chubby. Chubby babies are cute, so its okay to say that (I think!).
IMO, part of the solidness is part of the difference between boys and girls. My niece and nephew are twins. As babies, she was squishy but he was solid. They are now six. She is thin--not fat at all. He is still solid, but not fat.
Don't worry, mama. Hayden is perfect just how he is!!!
I would not take it that way. J is a big baby. We get solid a lot. I think of it more as just healthy looking. I also think that people use solid to let you know you are doing a good job. I know we feed her healthy things, she does not get any sweets and the minimal snacks she recieves are healthy.
Babies go through stages and all put on weight differently and at differnent paces. For what it is worth, try to think of solid as a complement.
I don't think it means fat at all.
One of my cousin's has a son that I refer to a solid. When you look at him he doesn't look big at all but when you go to pick him up he is like a brick - just build very solid/ sturdy but not fat to me at all.
