Babies: 3 - 6 Months

I found a lump in my breast :(

Yesterday night I couldn't sleep because something kept hurting on my left breast. Well by the morning it was still hurting, I felt around and there it was. It's about 1 inch big and around about the size of a nickle. KWIM? I was crying all day yesterday trying to think of other things it can be but I can't think of anything. It feels pretty lumpy andits painful when I even turn to the side. I'm calling the doctor today but please pray for me. Cancer does run in my family but nobodys had breast cancer that I know of. I'm just so scared to go through this, it could be nothing, well I hope it's nothing. Thanks for reading this and any T&P are very welcome.

Re: I found a lump in my breast :(

  • I know you can't help but think the worst, but I have had 2 friends and a cousin who all had lumps in their breast that turned out to be non-cancerous cysts.  Try and relax until you can find out more from a dr.  Sending prayers!

  • T&Ps for you!

Do you BF?  Could it be a mastisis?

  • Do you BF?  I've found some pretty painful lumps when I had a clogged duct and the milk was backing up.  It took a day or so for it to work itself out.

    Good luck!

sorry, I forgot to include that. No I don't BF :(.
  • T&P, hopefully/probably nothing!  I'm not sure if this is possible but it might be related to you having a baby - maybe a duct that clogged when your milk was drying up (since you don't BF) and it got progressively worse?  Just throwing another possibility in there... But again, probably nothing, just get checked out!

  • Good Luck at the dr. Sending T&P your way!
  • Hang in there!!

I just went in for a breast ultrasound last week because I found a lump. I stopped breastfeeding after 6 weeks because I had a breast reduction 4 years ago & I had very little supply. The Radiologist told me that it was nothing to be concerened with. It was a huge relief & he said your body goes through lots of changes after pregnancy & this is just one. Good luck. Lots of hugs.( He also said if it kept bothering me to come back anytime because ultrasounds are easy, safe, & painless ways to check out lumps. )

  • That can be quite scary...lots of t&p your way.  I had a cyst when I was about 13.  One of my breast was just bigger than the other and it hurt to touch.  My dad took me to the doctors and they said it was just a cyst.  I'm don't remember if I took meds or it just went down on it's own, but it was gone within a few days.
  • I had a lump years ago that turned out to just be a cyst and breast cancer does run in my family.  My cyst didn't hurt though and was a bit bigger than the one you are describing.  I hope everything goes well for you a simple biopsy will uncover what it is and after a couple of years they ended up removing mine.  Good luck!

  • I noticed one right after I gave birth to DD.  I had an ultrasound of my breast and it's a non-cancerous cyst (sp?)  My Dr. said you can have them your whole life and when you give birth the enlargement of your breast can move them to the front, which is why I just noticed it now.

Ask your dr...it could be nothing to worry about, but better to at least have it checked.

  • I have fibrous breasts and I used to get lumps fairly frequently that would hurt really bad.  Its good you are getting it checked out and here's hoping it's just an annoying cyst.

  • Thank you ladies! I already feel a little better because of you, hopefully it is just a cyst. Again thank you all I'll update later. :)
  • I have heard that lumps can happen easily when BFing, so I bet it's nothing!!! But T&P are definitely with you.

This exactly. Or even a clogged duct. I didn't BF and found a lump after my 1st DD.

  • Definitely T&P to you. How very frightening. I'm so glad you're getting on it right away, that is the best thing to do. Let us know how it goes.
  • Lots of T & P headed your way!

My mom's had breast cancer twice, and she found both of the lumps herself. Neither of them were painful, so maybe that will give you some hope. Good luck at the doctor!

  • cancer nodules are typically PAINLESS. Most likely a benign cyst
