TTC after 35

Venting... and Experience with Provera?

First, congrats to all the BFPs this month. I tend to come on here to vent and complain and ask questions... I apologize for that. I am really happy for everyone who has had success along this journey lately. It gives me hope.

Now for the vent/complaint/question. You may remember my IUI cycle was cancelled for too many follies. I did several days of follistim and did not trigger. I'm now on day 42 of the cycle from HE!!. Went in for B/W this morning and apparently I never ovulated this month (I have never been anovulatory before but I guess this can happen when you take follistim but don't trigger?). UGH. I am so pissed about how this whole TTC process is messing with my body.

Anyhow, I've got a prescription for provera and am wondering about experiences, side effects, etc. I am so so so sick of the drugs and don't want to deal with it anymore... but I guess I need to get AF kick-started to try, try again.

Thanks in advance..

Re: Venting... and Experience with Provera?

  • I am regular as clock work, unless I've stimmed and then my cycles are off. I have taken it once and it was no big deal to take and it seems like it took a long time for AF to finally show. I prefer a PIO shot and AF comes in 5-7 days. I usually have some PIO at home, so I can do it myself and although it's a shot, it's one and done. Good luck!

  • No experience. Just wanted to say I'm sorry this cycle so completely blows.

    (((hugs)))

  • First, I'm very sorry for difficulty this cycle. I am a newbie but have been lurking a while. I am on provera at the moment for the same non-ovulatory long cycle problem. The only thing I've really noticed was irritability and mild bloating.  Good luck! I"ll be thinking about you!

  • I'm sorry you are having a hard time.  My experience with Provera was when I was 13 and took it to keep my cycles regular.  I was surprised that people used it to start AF, because when I took it, it was to keep AF away.  LOL  I used to take it daily and when I stopped - after day 28, I would start the next day.  I know that this may not happen in your case.  I know that people usually get AF within days of stopping Provera.

I hope it works for you.  Big hugs.
