2nd Trimester
My family night failure --Long Vent--
I have been planning this nice family dinner and evening together for about a week. We are always so busy on the weekends so I wanted one day of nothing.
This was what I had planned ---
We were suppose to prep dinner together (burgers, grilled veggies, red potatoes and for dessert chocolate dipped strawberries). Grill-out, relax after dinner together then we would both put DD to bed (DH works 2nd shift and doesn't get home till nearly midnight m-f so this would have been a treat for DD) Then, after she was in bed asleep I was hoping for a little bit of sex or at least a nice long cuddle...
Instead, this is how it went down... DD and I prepped all the food while DH was talking to the neighbor (who just got back from fishing) and "prepping" the grill. I made DD, and DH plate they started eating while I got my plate, by the time I sat down DH was halfway done with his plate. Then he gets up as soon as he was finished to clean and cut up a bunch of fresh fish he got from the neighbor ! So I cut up the strawberries and melt the chocolate for our dessert. I set them at the table and ask him to come join us for dessert. He told me he didn't want any dessert and wanted to throw the fish on the grill while it was still hot. So, DD and I had our dessert. I gave her a bath and got her in her jammies and put her to bed... By MYSELF ! So, DH comes in proud of his grilled fish and promised he would help clean up. I get 2 phone calls one from DH uncle and one from my mom both asking if we could bring a side dish (we have two easter lunch/dinners tom.) Any other night this wouldn't have bothered me... However, by this time i was ready to lose it ! So, I had to send DH to the store so I could make two side dishes. It took him an hour longer then it normally would since everyone is out getting the last minute items for tomorrow. He gets home and tells me that he is going out with some of his buddies tonight ! I officially lose it at this point and I go off about how this was suppose to be our family night and he knew this for about a week now. He thinks that we DID have a family night we sat down to dinner together and I was being ridiculous ....
So, Now I am sitting here alone on a Saturday night, I just ate a whole sleeve on peeps... AND I am not getting any sex tonight.
I know tomorrow all this will seem silly ... But right now I am throwing a pity party.

I'm listening to artichokes boil on the stove so I can get dinner ready in a few min. No dh, he's at work--always. So, just me and the kids.
I would be right there with you. It is hard when you get your hopes all up and things don't turn out at all like you wanted. Hopefully he will make it up to you.
And I am a firm believer that a good pity party is healthy. So enjoy your peeps

my husband hasn't done this type of thing yet, but i'm sure when he eventually does... my response would probably be to deny the sex when he rolls in with his buddies and is looking for some sex.
and/or thrown a fit by stealing his fish & eating all of it; or, tipping over the grill in a fit of (irrational) rage so he cannot cook the fish.
lol. I'm sorry, your night sounds not cool, this line just made it a *little bit* less terrible.
